Dear Viper,
Do you ever "psych-out" you opponent before an event? How?
John Farkle- St. Paul, MN
Ha, ha. Uh yeah John we definately, I definately, do psych people out. I walk around pacing and that's not really to psych them out, that's just to psych me up.
Dear Tower,
How much do you eat a day?
Chris Collins- Thousand Oaks, CA
Well Christopher, uh, I eat every two hours throughout the day and I consume about 7,000 calories, and of those calories it's a very low fat, high protein, high complex carbohydrate diet. When I say complex carbohydrates I mean like your potatoes, rice, pastas, I stay away from all my simple sugars such as fruits and sugar type products. Reason being is it holds excess water my body doesn't need. Thanks for writing Chris.
Dear Elektra,
How did you get so adept at the wall?
Jill Fasso- Fort Myers, FL
Well Jill, I can climb the wall so well because...I am a rock climber, Professionally actually. That's my main workout, climbing rocks, and even artifical walls. So if I don't win on the wall I'm in big trouble, you know I'm having a really bad day. -Elektra
Dear Lace,
What is your athletic background and what do you do to stay in such good shape?
Greg Long- Knoxville,TN
Wow! Thanks for writing in and saying I'm in such good shape! Hmm.... I work pretty hard to get in this kind of shape for the season. I put on 20 pounds, eat a lot, went to the gym once, sometimes twice a day lifting weight, then running on the beach afterward. I like to play volleyball on the beach, swim when it's warm enough in the water, kickbox, and chase boys. -Lace
Dear Turbo,
I watch the show regularly. What would you say is the hardest event?
Angie Kourakos- Trevose, PA
Angie, in my opinion, powerball would be the hardest event. The reason why is because you're going for 45 seconds, this is non-stop action, and everything you see is hard hittin' were not easing up on these guys at all, we're trying to drive these guys into the mat as hard as we can, and believe me, it takes its toll on us as well as them. -Turbo
Dear Ice,
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Berice Remmers- Crown Point, IN
Well Bernice, the gladiators takes a lot of my time up since it is all year round, but when I do have some time I spend it with my horse, I do alot of jet-skiing, and I'm training in the gym quite a bit. -Ice
Dear Gemini,
How do you get a great body?
Jeffrey Coley- New York, NY
Well, it's a combination of things Jeffrey. Number one, you've gotta get a good nutritional program, you gotta eat properly. Then you gotta get a good training program. When I say training I not only mean weightlifting I mean cardiovascular too. It's important to run, ride a bike, use a stairmaster, then get your weightlifting in. Then you've gotta rest, the body requires a lot of rest. If you take these four elements and put them together, rest, nutrition, cardiovascular, & weight training, the body will develop. And you've gotta be consistant and do it on a regular basis, that's the important thing, never quit! -Gemini
Dear Zap,
How much can you bench press?
Noam Kedem- Tel-Aviv, Israel
Well Noam, the answer to your bench press question is 315 pounds at one time. Right Now I'm not lifting anywhere near that, but that was my maximum for one rep. Thanks Noam. -Zap
Dear Nitro,
Are you rough and tough?
Margo Hewett- Oklahoma City, OK
Margo from Oklahoma City, I'm not always so rough and tough, but when it comes to an event, I'll do what it takes to win. I'll never hit anybody unfairly or take a cheap shot, but if it mean giving all I've got, pushing myself to the limit and copping an attitude to win, I'll take the intensity to win every time. But once I get off the field I think I'm just probably your average, lovable, teddy bear type of guy. Thanks for the letter. -Nitro
Dear Gold,
I can't afford to go to the gym, but I have barbells and dumbells. How should I proceed form here?
Byron Wozgen- Los Angeles, CA
Thanks for the letter Byron, yes I am living proof that you can start weight training in your basement. To do the basic excercises and to cover the whole body all you need is a barbell and a couple of dumbells. I would suggest reading through several of the fitness magazines and pay close attention to the articles on diet because 50% of the weight training program is diet and good luck to ya! -Gold
Dear Blaze,
How long do you workout everyday?
Megan Walsh- Huntington Beach, CA
Megan, that's interesting, I workout 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. For my morning workout I usually do arms and legs, then for evening I'll come back and do chest and some cardiovascular such as the treadmill or a cycle. -Blaze
Dear Turbo,
I freaked out when you blew out your knee last season. What was your rehab like and are you fully recovered?
Randy Stoner- San Francisco, CA
Randy, I'm glad to see you're interested. The rehab was very intense, I spent a lot of time in the swimming pool, therefore taking the weight off the knee joint and swimming, that kind of thing to keep the muscle active. It took me 9-10 months to get it back 100% and thank you very much it is back 110% and I would hope that my abilities have proven that. -Turbo
Dear Tower,
There is a strong resemblance between you and Turbo, are you two brothers?
Donna LaPorte- Forney,TX
Well Donna, maternally, no. but as gladiators, were brothers. Turbo and I, I feel we perform very well together on the gladiator floor. You know I really don't see a resemblance myself, but as gladiator brothers, we're brothers all the way. -Tower
Dear Viper,
What kind of music do you enjoy?
Jeff Parets- Scottsdale, AZ
You know, it doesn't really matter as far as the music, I depends on what mood I'm in and what I want to get done. If I'm going out to compete It's gonna be some Beastie Boys or some hard rock. If I'm gonna chill out It's gonna be something mello. -Viper
Dear Storm,
You seem so nice and in control, why is your name "Storm"?
Alice Well- Denver, CO
Well Alice, the reason why my name is Storm is because I still can be in control and still have the name, but the reason is I'm very calm before the events, but when my events start, watch out! That's when the Storm comes out, thanks for asking. -Storm
Dear Laser,
What exercises and stretches do you do to get ready for a show?
Brent Ball- Knoxville, TN
Hi Brent. As far as my stretching and exercises that I do prior to each event I warm up with weights, very light, I do about 15-20 reps. per body part and that includes my whole body. As for stretching I do about 15-20 of my whole body and I warm real well and I'm ready to blast, thanks for writing. -Laser
Dear Siren,
I'm 10 years old and I'm deaf. How can I grow up to be just like you?
Setty Cortarena- Syracuse, NY
Hi Setty, one way to overcome many things and obstacles in your life and to be a successful person is to follow your heart and know that the only thing you can't do is hear, that's all, so go for whatever you want, whatever you dream, and you will be successful too! -Siren
