American Gladiators Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is American Gladiators?

A: A television show which ran on various stations in syndication from 1989-1996. It featured seven very different events in which two contenders (two male/two female) tried to outscore their opponent in an attempt to advance to the next round of competition and ultimately the Grand Championships. The gladiators tried to reduce as much scoring as possible.

Q: Did Natalie 'Lace' Lennox really fall off of Skytrack?

A: No. This never happened.

Q: Is Turbo gay?

A: Simply, no. He is married and has a wife and a daughter.

Q: Is Blaze dead?

A: No. This is probably the most widely spread rumor of American Gladiators, thus making it very popular despite its falsehood. The true story is season four contender/grand champion Cheryl Wilson sadly was killed by her husband, Juan Minelli. You can read more about this here.

Q: How did Malibu get injured?

A: He was on the event Human Cannonball in season one (1989), when he was kicked off of the pedestal (Causing the tuck rule to be enforced). This was not the injury, as on the way down he fell and cut his face. He later returned on that episode to finish out the season, but was booted from the show in favor of David "Titan" Nelson. Malibu did return though, albeit the American Gladiators live tour.
