AG Domain: How did you get on the live show?
Kimberly Rogers: Initially, I tried out to a contender. I did great in the tryouts, but they told that I was too big. At the time, I was 5'7" and 160 lbs, 4 weeks out from a bodybuilding competition. Most of the other female Gladiators were about the same size. The contenders were usually slighter smaller. It took approximately 4 weeks to secure my position on the Gladiator roster.
AGd: What was your favorite event on AG?
Jade: Powerball, need I say more? There is nothing like slamming a contender on the ground and taking that point away. Yeah baby!
AGd: What was your least favorite event?
Jade: I would have to say "The Wall". It was okay, but I like the more aggressive events.
AGd: What made AG appealing to you?
Jade: It was the chance of a lifetime, I got to showcase my athletic talents as well as my physique. I would not trade my AG experience for anything.
AGd: What was your favorite part of the show?
Jade: The interaction with the fans was an incredible experience. My 2 most memorable moments:
#1- Being introduced at the show for the first time as Jade, the newest American Gladiator and hearing the cheering from the audience. By the way, I was dropped down from the ceiling on a rope while hitting a bicep shot.
#2- I did a guest appearance in the Bahamas, we visited one of the schools and the response from the children when we were introduced simply overwhelmed me. I will never forget that feeling... priceless.
AGd: Who were your favorite gladiators from the TV series?
Jade: I would have to say Siren, who was definitely an inspiration not only as a person, but as a beautiful human being who didn't let being deaf affect her ability to be one bad-ass Gladiator. I also admire Turbo. He is a unique individual. Very humble and intelligent, yet very talented when it came to the AG events. He is also the textbook definition of a terrific father.
AGd: If you could do it all over, what would you have done more differently?
Jade: Nothing at all except I would still have the show going on today. People loved the AG show, but I guess that it is out my hands. If it ever came back- I am there, without a doubt.
AGd: What are you currently doing right now?
Jade: I just got my real estate license and I have a website at www.kimberlyjaderogers.com. In the store section, I sell 8x10's of myself as a Gladiator and as a National level competitive bodybuilder. My e-mail address is: Jadethegladiator@aol.com. I love to hear from fans from all over the world.
AGd: How has bodybuilding gone for you?
Jade: Well, I have been weight training for 17 years and competing for 15 years. My most notable titles are:
1994 NPC Delaware State Champion. 1994 Eastern Seaboard Champion. 1995 NPC Delaware State Champion. 1995 NPC Collegiate National Heavyweight Champion. 1995 NPC JR Nationals 3rd Heavyweight. 1998 Ms America Heavyweight Champion. 2002 NPC Southern USA Heavyweight Champion. 2002 NPC JR USA Heavyweight Champion.
My future in bodybuilding... to be announced. There needs to be more attention given to the female side of sport as well as more prize money.
AGd: What kind of fame has AG brought you?
Jade: Well, I still sell a ton of autographed pictures on my website, www.kimberlyjaderogers.com. I get recognized on a regular basis, but many times people think that I am a wrestler. Hey, you never know...
AGd: Did you ever consider quitting the show before you actually did?
Jade: No, absolutely not. I supported the show 100% and probably would have worked for free... my career on AG was that important to me.
AGd: How did you leave the show?
Jade: One day, everyone showed up for the show and the door to the arena was locked. There was a note on the door that said, "Sorry, show is closed," just like that. How sad and very shocking to all of us.
AGd: What male or female gladiators did you get to know the best?
Jade: Flame is the favorite female gladiator that I got to know the best. Jazz would be my second favorite Gladiator. As far as the gladiator males, I would have to say Quake for helping me with bodybuilding as well as just being a friend. All of the guys were great and they always made me feel accepted.
AGd: What events were the hardest/easiest?
Jade: My hardest event was The Wall... I just like the tougher/more physical events better. The easiest event would have to be Assault, where the gladiator simply stands on a platform and shoots tennis balls at the contenders.
AGd: If AG were to be reincarnated, would you want to be a gladiator? If so, would your name still be Jade?
Jade: I would do AG in a heartbeat and yes, I would keep the name Jade because it has been part of my life since 1996. I just bought a 2004 bright yellow Hummer H2 and guess what the license plate reads... JADE.
AGd: Relating to the last question, if you have one thing to say in a new version of gladiators, what would it be and why?
Jade: Bring Gladiators back, add some new events and let's get it on baby!
AGd: Okay, now it's time for some word association. I'll give you a word and you tell me the first thing that comes to mind...
AGd: Hawk
Jade: A true ladies man. He has an awesome personality as well as physique. All around, just a great guy.
AGd: Powerball
Jade: Yeah, my favorite event. I never had any stress during my 3 year stint as a Gladiator. Powerball had a lot to do with that. Come on, taking your aggression out on innocent people. What a rush!
AGd: Joust
Jade: Who doesn't like to knock someone's head off?
AGd: Quake
Jade: An awesome person, very intelligent and currently engaged to Flame. What a perfect couple... I wish them all the best.
AGd: Hottest male gladiator
Jade: Laser.....any questions?
AGd: Tigra
Jade: She's a really nice person, too bad that she only performed in a few shows.
AGd: John Ferraro
Jade: Nice guy. Hey Johnny... bring back Gladiators!
AGd: The fans
Jade: Amazing. We used to have some kids that were dying come to the show just to see all of us. That was their "wish" before they died... imagine that. One of the organizations was called "Give Kids The World."
AGd: The fame
Jade: I wouldn't trade my AG experience for anything.
AGd: American Gladiators
Jade: Give me a call... Jade is always ready, willing and more than able.
