Interview with Season Four's Lisa Langston

AG Domain: What was your favorite event?

Lisa Langston: Powerball.

AGd: Did you enjoy watching yourself kick butt on TV?

LL: Yes... the little time that I actually was kicking butt.

AGd: Who was your greatest competitor as far as contenders go?

LL: Betsy Erickson, her gymnastic background proved helpful in most events.

AGd: What did you think of your competitors, Tracy Jernegan, Shannon Williams, and 1st Half Champion Betsy Erickson?

LL: Tracy Jernegan beat me with a severely injured knee. Being a firefighter gave her a huge advantage on the cargo rope despite the bad knee. Shannon was a great sport, fun to compete against. Betsy was very serious and had the mentality to win... focused.

AGd: What inspired you to do so well in AG?

LL: The students who believed in my ability to compete inspired me not to make a fool of myself. Back then, I was slightly competitive.

AGd: If you could do it all over again, what would you have done differently?

LL: I would not have skipped the meal during the break of taping my first show. We only had about 10-15 minutes to eat, so I unwisely opted not to eat. By 10pm when the taping had ended, I recalled being completely wiped out- glassed over eyes, coherence was a struggle. Additionally, I would not have attended any tapings of the show before I was scheduled to tape. My first show was the second day taping, and was in the audience the first day of taping. I watched a guy from the Miami Dolphins get a concussion, after watching the guy crumble to the floor, I was less than enthusiastic to be a part of the show!

AGd: What kind of fame has AG brought you?

LL: Initially, I was the talk of the town. I did a radio interview and some newspaper articles. It felt very much like being a collegiate athlete again. I tend to forget about the show until someone recognizes me from the reruns that are presently airing. Oh, and my friends tend to bring it up from time to time. One friend is planning a viewing party for those friends who missed the show the first go-around.

AGd: Do you have a favorite moment on AG?

LL: My favorite moment was hitting the target with one shot in the Assault game. Everyone including myself was suprised. I was happy not to get hit by a fast-flying tennis ball.

AGd: Which gladiator (or gladiators) did you compete with best?

LL: Although she royally kicked my butt, I enjoyed competing against Storm. I physically matched up well with Zap and usually had the upper hand.

AGd: Which male or female gladiators did you like the best?

LL: Siren, Elektra, Ice (Who was not a part of my season), were very interesting people. I enjoyed chatting with them.I talked alot with Elektra and Ice during the weekend of the Live Show Finals in Atlantic City.

AGd: Easiest event?

LL: Powerball.

AGd: Hardest event?

LL: The Wall.

AGd: If AG were re-created, would you be interested as a contender or gladiator?

LL: As a contender, no way... I did not enjoy getting the crap kicked out of me. As a gladiator, I would not want to get that big at my age!

AGd: Relating to the last question, if you could have a say on one thing in a new American Gladiators, what would it be?

LL: I cannot think of a single thing!

AGd: When did you first grow interested, or hear about American Gladiators?

LL: I told a couple of students, who had said I would be great for the show, that if they got me a tryout I would do it. Little did I know that a live tour of the show was coming to town... the rest is history.

AGd: What have you been doing lately?

LL: I am still working for the school district, but as assistant athletic director, working slowly toward a doctorate degree, and enjoying life!

AGd: Anything else?

LL: The funniest moment of my AG experience was sitting at home watching the first show with friends. They were amused at how quickly Storm knocked Tracy off the pedestal during Joust. I sat in silence, until the room erupted with laughter when Storm dropped me with one hit. As soon as the whistle blew, I was gone. I laughed so hard; it was the funniest thing. I can still point to the spot on my forehead where she hit me.
