Interview with Gladiator Sky

AG Domain: What was your favorite event on AG? What about the hardest event?

Shirley Eson: My favorite is a tie with Pyramid and Whiplash. The hardest wasn't really hard, [Hang Tough] it was just that because of the cut of my Gladiator uniform it was very hard to keep from exposing my bosom as I went from ring to ring!

AGd: What was your least favorite event on AG? Least difficult event?

Sky: My least favorite was Cannonball!!! Hated it!!! Least difficult was Powerball because most of the time I was stuck with the middle position and the girls would just stay away from me!

AGd: Which was your favorite season?

Sky: All seasons after Cannonball was retired!

AGd: Did you enjoy watching yourself kick butt on TV?

Sky: Not really... I always sit think of all the ways I could have done it better, even if I won!

AGd: How did you get the job as a gladiator?

Sky: Just went to an open call try-out at Universal Studios.

AGd: Which male gladiator did you get to know/like the best?

Sky: I loved, liked and respected the athletic ability and integrity of Turbo.

AGd: Which female gladiator did you get to know/like the best?

Sky: I loved Diamond. Fun, sweet, classy, athletic and a lady!

AGd: If you could do if all over, what would you have done more differently?

Sky: Yes, I would have found a way to practice the events during the off season! We never practiced! Most of the time we didn't see the events until the a few days before shooting! Practice, practice, practice!

AGd: What kind of fame has AG brought you?

Sky: It's been fun... people still recognize me, but I'm just a family person that liked to get paid for having fun!

AGd: Did you ever consider quitting the show before you actually did?

Sky: Nope, Never.

AGd: If AG was brought back on TV, would you still be a gladiator? If so, would your name still be Sky.

Sky: I would always be Sky! But I think I'm getting a little older now and the bones don't heal as well these days!

AGd: Relating to the last question, if you could have one say in a new version of gladiators, what would it be and why?

Sky: I would hope the new Gladiators would get a more fair pay check than we did! We really did it for the love not the money! The money wasn't that great.

AGd: Who was your favorite contender?

Sky: "Two Scoops." His love and energy was felt by everyone and made him shine!

AGd: What was your favorite aspect of the show?

Sky: The All-American family show and how much we were truly loved by our fans!

AGd: Did you enjoy the "spotlight"?

Sky: I enjoyed doing something that made people smile!

AGd: Do you have a favorite moment on AG?

Sky: Every moment was priceless! But I think my favorite was actually on G2000, the kids version of American Gladiators... When Turbo and I teamed up with our daughters Courtney and Ashley and competed against each other.

AGd: What have you been doing lately?

Sky: I own I website www.bodyworksvitamins.com  and a gym in Orlando. Most of the time I spend at home with my daughters and husband of three years, we have 3 acres on a lake and we have adopted 13 dogs from shelters in our area. I just love spending my day being Mom to a bunch of furry kids!

AGd: Anything else you would like to say (Share stories, etc.)?

Sky: Speaking of G2000... it's really funny to see Ryan Seacrest doing so well with American Idol. For those who don't know, Ryan was on our G2000 show, he was the "Mike Adamle" of G2000.

AGd: How did you find out about the show?

Sky: I was competing in Bodybuilding and someone asked me to come to one of the try outs.

AGd: Which gladiator name is better, "Sky" or "Athena"?
